What is STAC-M?
STAC-M (Student Advisory Group for Media) is a book club for students who love to read.
This group is made up of students in grades 7-12. We meet once a month to discuss and review great books for teens and to promote reading at LN Charter.
New members may join at anytime.
This year we are collaborating with the North County Public Library. We wil join with other area high schools and middle schools participating in the Teen Top Ten (TTT). We will read and review new titles and create a "TOP TEN" list.
The name of this group is YA Gotta Read This!
Ya Gotta Read This Information
The YA Gotta Read This group has been selected to participate as Teen Top Ten Group for 2015-2016 term. We are one of 12 groups from around the country.
The purpose of the TTT is two-fold. First, the TTT groups read all year and nominate titles for the Teens' Top Ten list. any book that is published from January 1 to December 31 can be nominated. Groups read and nominate all year to determine the nominations. Teens nominate a title by filling out an official Teens Top Ten Nomination form which will be available online.
The second part of this project is that throught the year, the TTT groups receive advanced reading copies of books and provide feedback to publishers. Members of the group will have access to the advanced reader copies of these books ( called ARCS). The books will be available at the North County Public library branch. Books should start coming in in January. Ms. Collins at North County will go over all the information in more detail at the January meeting.
In the beginning, you may take one book--when you turn in your first review--you get to choose another book. Gradually we will increase the number of books you can take at one time as we get more copies in.
